Too much of any form of communication can be a nuisance
|
I’m a PR gal with a general enthusiasm for social media and other new forms of communication. So here I am, starting a blog.
Yes I know, nowadays everybody has a blog.
So why should you care? What’s the point?
That’s precisely why I decided to blog. In the overcommunicating world of web 2.0 (or is it 3.0?), my eyes and ears are starting to hurt and I’m starting to care less. I imagine others out there feel the same, so here is the start of my adventure to cut through the fluff and find my own relevance in hot topics, and maybe some not-so-hot topics.
I’m a firm believer in the handwritten letter, the personalized and meaningful email, the simplicity of a phone call and truly think nothing can trump face-to-face interaction. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as big of a fan of Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare as the next gal, I just feel strongly about not cheapening genuine human interaction and still cultivating rapport with one another.
rap·port
–noun
relation; connection, esp. harmonious or sympathetic relation: a teacher trying to establish close rapport with students.
I don’t claim to be an expert on social media, or really anything (besides obscure pop culture trivia), but I think I’ve learned some useful things along the road and I’m excited to share.
